Packaging decision snapshot

Choose the box around the real meal journey

A useful food box specification connects the menu, kitchen workflow and delivery route. Confirm these three decisions before comparing unit price.

01

Food and fill condition

Share portion dimensions, fill temperature, oil or sauce exposure and the expected hold time.

02

Structure and barrier

Match board strength, coating, ventilation and closure style to the product—not only to the box shape.

03

Packing and delivery

Test assembly speed, stacking, outer-bag fit and presentation at the longest normal delivery time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What is the minimum order quantity for custom printed food boxes?
Stock (unprinted) food boxes start at 500 pcs. Custom printed boxes require a minimum of 5,000 pcs per size/design. We offer competitive pricing that scales with volume.

Yes. Our PE-coated boxes resist grease, oil and moisture — ideal for fried chicken, burgers and other hot foods. We also offer uncoated eco-friendly options.
Can I get a sample before placing a bulk order?
Absolutely. We provide free samples within 7 business days. You can verify size, material quality and print fidelity before committing to production.
What printing methods do you use?
We offer full-color CMYK offset printing for high-resolution designs and flexographic printing for cost-effective large runs. Pantone spot color matching is available.

How to Choose Food Packaging Boxes

The right box is determined by the food, serving method and time between packing and eating. A practical specification should protect product quality, make kitchen packing faster and present the brand consistently at the point of delivery.

Start With the Menu

Map each box to the portion size, food weight, temperature and sauce level it must handle. Burgers need controlled headroom, fried foods need ventilation, and combination meals often need compartments. Testing the actual menu prevents oversized packs, movement during transport and unnecessary material cost.

Match the Barrier

Kraft board and white paperboard can be combined with grease- and moisture-resistant barriers. The coating should reflect the food contact time and disposal target, not simply be the heaviest option. We can compare PE, aqueous and other available structures against your performance requirements.

Validate Delivery Performance

A box that works at the counter may behave differently after thirty minutes in a delivery bag. Check closure security, steam release, stacking strength and resistance to oil migration. Samples should be packed with the real food and tested through the longest expected delivery route.

Materials, Structure and Printing

Food packaging boxes can be produced from kraft board for a natural appearance, white paperboard for bright graphics, or heavier corrugated structures for larger sharing meals. Board thickness is selected according to footprint, food weight and stacking load. Locking tabs, tuck tops, vents, windows and internal dividers can then be engineered around the way staff assemble and fill the pack.

For branded projects, artwork is reviewed for dieline position, barcode readability, color coverage and areas affected by folds. Flexographic printing is efficient for many repeat programs, while offset printing supports detailed graphics and controlled color reproduction. A physical or printed sample provides the best final check before mass production.

Before approving a box, run a small packing trial with the real food, liner, sauce and outer delivery bag. Record assembly time, filled weight, closure condition, oil marks and product temperature when the customer would normally open it. Repeat the test with boxes stacked at the maximum expected height. This evidence makes it easier to compare two material or structure options and prevents the decision from being based only on an empty sample. For multi-size programs, confirm that staff can distinguish each size quickly and that the cartons are labeled clearly in storage. The final specification should identify dimensions, board, barrier, print standard, packing quantity and accepted sample so future orders can be checked against the same reference.

Common Box Applications

  • Fried chicken and wing boxes
  • Takeaway meal and lunch boxes
